How does hypnotherapy work?

Hypnotherapy works by creating an appropriate clinical environment for the client to discover the solutions to their problems. It allows the client to tap into their own abilities and resources. We recognise that changing our behaviour and how we think, can be tricky. Hypnotherapy makes it easier and faster.

Clients can begin to make logical decisions, make the right choices and act appropriately, because they are calmer and more focused. The focus is on what the client wants to achieve rather than the problem. ‘We concentrate on the present and future and not on the past,’ comments Cathy.

The session comprise of a combination of Solution Focused Brief Therapy and hypnosis. The hypnosis itself reduces anxiety, which is done simply through various relaxation techniques and visualisation. Hypnosis or trance is a natural state of mind, it can be described as mind wandering.

Notably, the sessions are lighthearted and fun; it’s all part of the therapy.
